DR: Domain Rating by Ahrefs, refreshed weekly. Traffic: the site's rank in the Tranco ranking of the most visited websites, refreshed weekly, for the whole site, so a subreddit shows Reddit's. Every directory here was checked by hand in October 2026: “Dofollow” means free listings link dofollow, “with badge” means only while you show their badge or link back, “paid” means only on a paid plan, and “Nofollow” means no link equity at all, only visitors. Policies change, so check before paying. Featured and sponsored entries are paid placements. outclimbed is not affiliated with Ahrefs.

Run a directory? Get listed, with a dofollow link

The people reading this page are deciding where to submit their product. Every directory added here gets a dofollow link to its site, on either plan, and is on the list straight away with its DR and traffic. One payment.

How to submit your startup to directories

  1. Prepare one kit. A name, a one-line tagline, a 160-character description, a square logo and three screenshots. Write them once and paste them everywhere, so every listing says the same thing.
  2. Launch first, list second. A launch platform gives you one day of attention; directories give you a slow, steady trickle. Launch when you are ready to talk to people, and do the directories any week.
  3. Start with the free dofollow ones. Filter the list to “Free dofollow” and sort by DR: those links cost nothing and count toward your Domain Rating.
  4. Then go where your buyers are. The directories with the most traffic in your category bring visitors, dofollow or not.
  5. Track what comes back. Add UTM tags where a directory lets you, and check your own DR with the free Domain Rating checker a month later.

Dofollow directories: which ones raise your Domain Rating

Only dofollow links count toward Domain Rating and pass ranking signal to your site. Of the 122 directories here, 85 give one: 52 for free (some while you show their badge), the rest on a paid plan or for winning a launch. The nofollow ones, which include most of the biggest platforms, bring visitors instead.

A link from a directory with a high DR is worth more than one from a low one, and a relevant directory more than a general one. Ten good links move a new site further than a hundred weak ones, so pick by DR and relevance rather than by count.

Free vs paid directory submission

Most directories list you for free and sell a faster queue, a featured spot or the dofollow link. Paying makes sense where the directory has real traffic from your audience, or where it is the only way to a link you want. Everywhere else, the free listing is the same listing, just later.

Questions about startup directories

What is a startup directory?

A website that lists new products, usually by category, so people looking for a tool can find one. Founders submit their product to get visitors, early users and a backlink. Launch platforms such as Product Hunt are a kind of directory where products compete on one day.

Which startup directories are worth submitting to?

Start with the launch platforms and the directories your buyers already browse, and the AI directories if your product is an AI tool. Then sort this list by DR and work down. For SEO, start with the ones that give a free dofollow link; the nofollow ones are still worth it for visitors.

Do directory backlinks help SEO and Domain Rating?

Followed links from established, relevant sites help a new domain get crawled and start building authority, and they raise its Domain Rating. Hundreds of links from low-quality directories do not, and can look like link schemes. A handful of good ones beats a long list of weak ones.

What is the difference between dofollow and nofollow?

A dofollow link passes ranking signal to your site; a nofollow link asks search engines not to. Only dofollow links move your Domain Rating. Nofollow links from busy directories still bring visitors, which is often worth more than the link.

What do "with badge" and "paid" mean in the Link column?

"With badge" means the listing is free and dofollow, but only while you show the directory's badge or a link back to it. "Paid" means the link is dofollow only on a paid plan, or if your launch wins a top spot. Plain "Dofollow" means a free listing gets the link with no conditions.

What do DR and Traffic mean in this list?

DR is Domain Rating, Ahrefs' 0-100 score for how strong a site's backlink profile is. Traffic is the site's rank in Tranco, a research ranking of the most visited websites. Both are refreshed every week.

How many directories should I submit my startup to?

Twenty to forty well-chosen ones is plenty for a new product: the main launch platforms, the directories for your category, and the free dofollow ones with the highest DR. Past that, the visitors and links per hour of work drop fast.

Should I pay for directory submissions?

Only where the directory has real traffic from your audience, or where paying is the only way to a dofollow link you want. Many paid options are a fee to skip a free queue; if you are not in a hurry, the free route gets you the same listing.
